Oda Ramen (shuttered in 2018) was a ramen joint located on Mississippi Avenue in Portland, Oregon. They served Asian fusion with a focus on quality ingredients and inclusive options for vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free eaters.

I had the opportunity to create their logo, website, and Instagram. I also took some food photography, updated their interior chalk menu board, and created their takeout menus.

.I didn't get much direction about what the logo should look like, other than "friendly" and "Asian". I played around with a ton of different concepts, getting out all the bad ideas so the good ones had space to emerge. On the right is a sampling of what occurred.
I had a lot of fun experimenting with shapes, concepts, and ideas. I came up with a high variation in branding styles to get a sense of what my client was leaning towards. Eventually, we went with the last one (black paint stroke circle) and added a pop a color per client request. The end product was still in line with my visual standards. A win-win situation!
For their website, I created the fun pattern above and used it as a motif in the background of each page.
Eggs, chopsticks, and noodles. A wallpaper fit for any ramen-lover's dream.
